Private View 4th October, 6-9pm. Open Exhibition continues Thursday – Sunday 12-4pm until 25th October 2013. RSVP to our Facebook event page here.

Bankley Open Studios 2013 will incorporate three floors of artist’s studios and the work of 34 artists open to the public, covering all artistic disciplines. The artists who use Bankley Studios as a base for their contemporary art practice, throw open the doors to their individual spaces for this annual event. Painting and drawing, sculpture and ceramics, photography and video art-forms are represented, show-casing the diversity and quality of work by artists currently resident at this renowned artist co-operative.

Bankley Open Call 2013 is the first in a proposed annual series of exhibitions selected from submissions from UK artists. This inaugural show includes an exciting range of contemporary work – diverse in style, media and scale – selected by a professional panel. The panel was comprised of Sophia Crilly, artist and curator, co-director of Bureau, Manchester; Mary Griffiths, curator
of Modern Art, Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester; Mark Kennard, artist and co-director of Bureau, Manchester; Katy Saide, co-owner of Trove, Levenshulme.

There are two major prizes and the opportunity for the overall winner to exhibit at Bankley Gallery in 2014. Prizewinners will be announced at our awards ceremony on the evening of the private view, Friday 4th October.

We’ll be profiling the artists selected for this year’s Open Exhibition in the coming weeks but you can check out Bankley’s permanent residents here in the meantime. We look forward to seeing you on the 4th.
