Ian Massey introducing the Bankley Open Call, captured from the safety of the bar

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our Open launch on Friday evening and to those of you who popped in over the weekend’s open studios. The selection panel awarded the first prize to Peter Seal who has won a dazzling £500 cash prize and a solo show at Bankley Gallery in the not too distant future. Our second prize of £200 in vouchers, generously sponsored by Fred Aldous, Manchester, went to Robin Megannity. More on all the selected artists here.

Thanks again to our panel, Sophia Crilly, artist and curator, co-director of Bureau, Manchester; Mary Griffiths, curator of Modern Art, Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester; Mark Kennard, artist and co-director of Bureau, Manchester; Katy Saide, co-owner of Trove, Levenshulme. We also had The Levenshulme Pub Company kindly providing the drinks which is very nice of them indeed.

So, the Open Call exhibition is open until Friday 25th October, check out the exhibition page for when and where. If you couldn’t make the Open Studios this year we’ve attempted to capture some of the magic documentary style here so you didn’t miss out completely.
